After Surgery you will
immediately be transferred
to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (Recovery Room)
immediately following your surgical procedure.
Your stay will be approximately one to one and half
hours. Surgery times are hard to predict and may
take longer than anticipated. Please be prepared
for this possible delay.
A major concern of
the PACU nurse will be maintaining your comfort.
Although you should expect to have some discomfort,
your doctor and nurse will make every effort to
keep you as comfortable as possible.
There will be a few requirements
that must be fulfilled before you can be discharged to
go home. These may differ with each procedure and will
be discussed with you by your nurse. You and a responsible
adult will be given instructions on your care prior to
going home.
